About the Artist

Alison has a studio at Cambridge Artworks and is a member of the Cambridge Arts movement based at Williams Art.

My early paintings explore themes of a sense of place. Starting with memories of landscape I paint intuitively and quickly using loose brushstrokes and drippy paint on large canvases to move towards abstraction. The resultant paintings are atmospheric and evocative, calm and soothing, hinting but not defining a remote undiscovered place.

My current work follows several strands. A relatively new theme is the cow. The cow is used as the basis for a study of colour and shape, taken out of context and placed against a loosely painted abstract background.
