I'm lucky enough to have two beautiful daughters who are willing to play on the beach all day while I sketch and take reference photos. A typical family holiday provides me with hundreds of painting ideas that I can re-visit during the dark days of winter. Here's a painting that I started last December and am now getting round to finishing.

Step 9: Completion

The painting has finally reached completion. Quite a lot was done in the final stages, including filing in the white foam within the foam collar, and most importantly, changing the dimensions of the work. I knew from the outset that I might want to make the canvas slightly more rectangular, but I wanted to see how far I could push the design...

I've made some adjustments to the tracings of foam inside the curl of the wave, trying to simplify them somewhat. Also, I've begun filling in the foam crescent in the lower section of the painting.

I've always appreciated online demonstrations of painters I admire. While it's a little presumptious that what I'm about to attempt here will measure up to what those artists do, I thought it might be fun, especially for those wonderful folk who have taken an interest in my work. A Corporate Commission

I finished a commission I received from the MAERSK LINE LIMITED shipping company in Norfolk Va. I was also invited to attend the christening ceremony in Norfolk which was a very exciting event! Dignitaries , Corporate Executives , Military Brass, luncheons and dinners were all witnessed in the naming ceremony for this Ice Class Tanker! Great fun!
