About the Artist

Dave spent most of his young, formative years seeing the world, fueling his imagination with visual experiences. Born in southern California, his family lived and traveled in the Philippine Islands, China, Japan and the Pacific Rim. These exciting times were exchanged with different experiences, working as a deckhand on a charter sailboat along the Atlantic coast of the U.S. and the Caribbean. The rocky coast of Maine to the deserted islands of the Leeward Islands, all formed his visual language.
While studying design at the University of Cincinnati, Dave had the opportunity to work with Robert Fabe, Phil Foster and Reginald Grooms, the beginning of his painting career.
After working in the field of product design for 26 years, Dave felt the call to begin painting again, producing light and dark contrast, shadow and texture on canvas.
Dave's work is currently in acrylic media having worked in oils and watercolor in the past. His style is very illustrative, emulating the works of N.C. Wyeth, Bernie Fuchs and Mark English, often using the brush style and mood of his mentor Robert Fabe.
"With a dramatic approach to light and shadow, David Hunt's paintings have a vividness conveyed by the extreme contrast of his scenes. He trains the spotlight on certain details, illuminating elements that might have otherwise been lost in the dimness: the elegant curve of a bench, a moonlit path, a window beyond the shadows. These facets coalesce into striking compositions that are as intriguing as they are arresting."

I travel the two lane highways of America capturing the images that I see. It never ceases to amaze me the simple beauty that awaits around the next bend in the road!
I have been painting for over thirty years and have shared it with only a chosen few........ I now chose to share it with you!
