I'm a realist painter and carver. Incorporating both into some of my paintings to achieve more realism and texture. Also produce prints of some of my work.
I was born in Zweibruchen, Germany in the mid fifties, while my father was stationed there with the Royal Canadian Air Force. My family and husbands’ aviation background has allowed me to experience many parts of Canada and the United States.
After military life we spent 8 years developing a diversified livestock business in the foothills of Alberta. Economics and opportunity sent us back to B.C.
I now live in Maple Ridge with my husband and close to my two adult children.
Over the years I have augmented my knowledge and skills through workshops and continuing education courses. I have been an active member in Art Clubs and Associations since the early 90’s, participated in art competitions, juried and group shows throughout Canada.
Painting mediums are Acrylics and Water-colours. My other interests are photography, woodcarving, assemblage art, textile arts, native artifacts, home renovations and out of doors activities. I am also a certified interior decorator and accomplished seamstress/upholsterer.
Some of my original paintings are held in private and corporate collections in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Great Britain and United States.
Primarily a realist painter, with an interest in all subject matter from wildlife to urban landscapes . I am very much influenced by North American native cultures, which is evident when visiting my home.
A few years ago I traveled to Alaska to learn more about local art and culture and to build up my bank of reference photos. It was when I finished my second totem painting that I felt the need to create a painting with more realism. So I decided to incorporate my love of carving into some of my art pieces. Sitka Totem, Amid the Mist and Campagnol Nest are examples of this painting style, which give the images extraordinary detail, texture and realism. The process is time consuming but worth it in the end and I believe this technique makes my art unique and interesting.
