Fay Wood is a sculptor and painter. Unlike the "post-studio" techniques of some contemporary artists, she uses a meticulous, process-oriented approach to her work.Fay uses a variety of materials- found metal, wire, rag paper,paint, found and hand carved wood- and a willingness to work by hand to give new life to these materials by transforming them into art.
Her work is in many private collections in both the United States and Germany. She has exhibited at the Albany Institute of History & Art,Albany, N.Y.;Vermont Union University,Montpelier, Vermont-Contemporary Drawing,2005; National Sculpture Society Annual Awards Exhibition, N.Y.C.; Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina; Rhine- Hudson Bridge Exhibition, Cologne, Germany; Biennale Internazionale Contemporanea, Florence, Italy; Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts; and Salmagundi Club, N.Y.C.(a selected list of exhibitions).
Wood has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in the North-east U.S., and has won many prizes, including the Proskauer Prize from the National Sculpture Society, N.Y.C. She has twice been the featured artist in the Catskill Mountain Foundation's Guide Magazine and Manhattan Arts International,N.Y.C. She was inducted into the National Association of Women Artists in 2010, and will be featured in "Where Women Create" in Feb. 2012.
