Born in the England, Helen Kilsby now lives in B.C.
I draw inspiration from a range of sources, such as archaeology, artifacts, geology, landscape and plant matter.
My process comprises of an eclectic mix of adding and subtracting: controlling the medium yet allowing the accidental. I work in layers, creating then obscuring , revealing then hiding. Painting surfaces are constantly multi-layered and renewed. This process-orientated method of constant re- defining allows a subject’s essence to reveal itself in its own time.
