My self-taught talent is a mystery to me. Without knowing how or why I come to my results, only letting my feelings guide me.
My paintings are interpreted in many ways. I think this is very special and I do not feel the desire to interfere in this meaning. A painting can mean eternal sorrow to one person, while an other viewer finds hope in the same painting. Both opinions are legitimate; of course, these are the feelings of the spectator.
Finally I want to say something about my own work: It strikes me that there is always a certain loneliness and desolation in my paintings. I don’t put this in deliberately, it just happens and I recognize it.
