About the Artist

British painter Karen Griffiths lives in the French Alps, with her studio overlooking the alpine town of Morzine. Since leaving university where she gained a 1st class honours in Illustration, Brighton became home for eight years painting in her beachfront studio, until moving to France 7 years ago.

Travelling since university, most recently Malaysia, India, Morocco, and China has proven to be her inspiration. Sketchbooks, photographs, writings and collected ephemera feed the paintings to create the atmosphere of encounters and passing moments in other worlds. People and places she is drawn to on journeys fascinate, and become the focus, entwined on the canvas with words to create snapshots of time. Karen - recent finalist of the Discerning Eye drawing bursary- will continue to exhibit in the UK and Internationally.
