Karina Knight dedicates herself to painting, drawing and some teaching. All the other threads of her life; theatre: interior design, sculpture influence her current work. She works full time in her wonderful studio and Gallery in South West France which overlooks a chateau, and in situ in inspiring interiors in the locality and the UK. She is also an accomplished portrait painter.
I am inspired by the light animating a space. I paint the rooms that man has left for a while, or the space to dream, sometimes it is simple everyday scenes, sometimes more exotic , often it is the very rustic interiors that say the most. There is often a narrative. I work in oil, watercolour and graphite. I paint with awe, love and spirit and these have to reflected in the work or they are put aside. My paintings are contemplative, some are melancholic and romantic, they celebrate beauty and craftsmanship.
