Marcelina Lalinde de Posada was born in Medellín, Colombia to a family with generations of artists. As a result Marcelina was raised in a creative environment, allowing her to start developing her artistic talent at an early age. After graduating from high school, Marcelina married Ignacio Posada and the couple moved to “the Athens of South America,” Bogotá. In the rich, artistic culture of Colombia's capital city she studied Architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, specializing in Visual Expression and Landscaping.
Marcelina studied Fine Arts at some of Bogotá's most renowned artistic institutes, including the Gomez Campuzano Museum Academy. Over the course of more than a decade she studied under the instruction of many world-class painters, perfecting her painting and drawing techniques using a variety of mediums such as charcoal, watercolour, acrylic, and oil. During this time Marcelina's work was shown in galleries and social clubs throughout the city as part of collective art exhibitions and successful solo exhibitions.
Since 2004 she has been living in Vancouver with her husband and three adult children. She has found Vancouver's natural beauty and spectacular skyline very inspiring. Her paintings were part of the Latin American Art Exhibition in Vancouver in 2006 and the Seven Artists of the West Exhibition in Calgary in 2007. Currently Marcelina's work is on display at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where it has been a part of a permanent exhibition for the Art Rentals and Sales program since 2005.
