About the Artist

Shane was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1971. After leaving school Shane worked as an Illustratior. He was first published in 2001 with the book ‘Managing your own learning at University’ by Aidan P Moran.
Also in the early 90’s Shane became a digital artist for a multimedia company in Dublin and quickly fell into motion graphics animation and editing. This would later lead to Cinematography and eventually Directiing. in 1999 shane left for Australia and worked as a freelance designer and editor.

After returning from Austraila In 2001 Shane worked as an online editor for an irish production company but also around this time he was painting and building a style and various collections of work. Over the next ten years he would develop a style using reflections and neon lights in a vairous slection of still life city scapes.

in 2003 he left Ireland for a second time this time for Thailand and the world of Thai boxing. Shooting the Documentary Feature Film took almost a year and returning to to Ireland Shane started editing the he 300 tapes.

To fund working on the film Shane worked on a number of projects. illustrating a range of 75 greeting cards for the Irish card and gifts company (The Paper Tree). The cards were sold throughout the country in major retail stores.
In 2005 Shane won an Artist In Residency award in Dublin city. The residency was in conjunction with the National education board the National Youth council and Dublin council and worked with a local comunity group THE BASE. The aim of the course was to work with young people in new media, illustration and filmmaking. The course was successfully completed in the same year. The following year a second phase was developed by the group. Other courses would be facilitated by the artist over the next number of years. Including a number of projects with YAP Ireland (Young People’s Advocate program‘s) and the Ombudsman for Children's Office in 2009.
In 2008 Shane appeared on National television with other artists Jim Fitzpatrick and Phillip French. The three artists worked with three celebrities ( Glenda Gilson, Eamon Coughlin & Shalinin Sinha). (The segment was aired on RTE over September/October 2009)

Later the Documentary film ' FIght or Flight' won a number of national and international film festival prizes and included a Nomination for Best Editing, at the 2009 IFTA (Irish Film and Television Awards) other prizes where:

In 2009 Shane was selected for the Berlin Talent campus at the Berlin Film festival, and in 2010 he attended the Noeltan film studio workshop in Italy. At this workshop ten filmmakers from around the world were invited to Tenna in the south of Italy. The film makers completed a film each in the ten days and then held a screening for the locals of Teana. It was the first time the village had a cinema screening. The nearest cinema was 80 kilometers away.

Shane is currently working on a animated feature film project in a small studio in Dublin. He is also working on a new selection of oil paintings.
