As a painter, my practice involves using acrylic on canvas and paper, watercolour, gouache, oil and soft pastel. I create layers till it works for me, leaving areas a mixture of translucence, thick layers creating rich colours.
When drawing I use pencil, pen and ink for fine lines and texture, and chiaroscuro effects with charcoal. I create collage, using mostly pre-painted paper and found objects that inspire me.
I print using etching and linocut.

In creating my sculptures I intuit movement and sentiment that I find through playful abstraction. I explore new ways of portraying the human figure. I experiment with new materials to see where they lead me: cardboard, fabric, My work is about my passion for colours - how they relate to each other, how they help to create form and space. For me colour expresses how I feel about life and light. The forms and shapes create energy that play together to make a joyful whole.
This energy and movement dance around my work - whether a painting in acrylic or watercolour, printmaking or sculpture - magically incorporating my values and vibrancy to create the harmonious relationships in the finished work.
Whether a landscape, nature, the human form; my work reflects how I feel about the world and how it can be.

I work in plaster, coloured plastic sheets, breezeblock and found objects.
I also work in clay and have cast my own pieces into bronze.
