In my pictures I express opinions, feelings or observations of our external and internal worlds. These can include satirizing conditions which affect daily life such as rampant technology, the manipulation and distortion of information, or the challenge of trying to preserve body and mind while simply traveling. At other times they may be depictions of the self-examination and inner conflicts which are often part of our journey through life. My concern is with expressing the mental image, thought, or feeling. The physical properties of the paint are a means to achieve this, and the exploration of these properties is a collateral activity rather than a goal in itself. The buzzwords of composition, tension, subtle nuances, and push-pull dynamics continue to puzzle me. I keep painting until it looks right.
